John: – What’s the date today? Oh right, 24th July. My holiday is coming to an end, but I still need to visit St Petersburg. Just yesterday I got an email invite to a jazz festival that’s taking place 28-29th July in St Petersburg. It’s my last chance this year to see Petersburg – I need to buy a ticket and go there pronto.
Lyova: – Do you want me to help you with buying a ticket? No problem! Did you know that you can get to St Petersburg by train, or also by flying? You can also drive there, but you don’t have a car, so choose between plane or train.
John: – Maybe it’s more comfortable and faster to get there by plane, but you know, I don’t like flying, so I’d better take the train.
Maria: – And where are you planning on going, John?
John: – I’m planning on travelling to St Petersburg, I’ve never been there. There’s a famous jazz festival there that starts on the 28th of July, and I got an official invite and so must go.
Lyova: – Then why are we wasting time here? Let’s run to Leningradskiy station and buy the tickets at a till before they run out!
Maria: – Don’t need to run anywhere, Lyova, we can book John’s train ticket on the internet. One moment, I’ll turn the computer on… There are a lot of trains that go to Petersburg, both day and night. John, if you want to travel quickly and in comfort, then the best option is to get the Sapsan train.
John: – I agree with getting the Sapsan, if only you could help me with buying the ticket. If you need my passport, I have it on me.
Maria: – Brilliant, so look here, John, it’s best to buy tickets right from the website sapsan.ru. There you’ll find all the information: timetables, prices, online registration, and even discounts. And to pay for the ticket you can use your bank card right there online. What dates do you want to get the outbound and return tickets for?
John: – Maybe go there on the evening of 27th July, so that I can have a rest before the festival. And by the evening of 29th July I need to be back in Moscow, so I need the return ticket for 29th July.
Lyova: – John, are you going to Piter for only 3 days? You won’t have time to see anything! Go there for a week, then you’ll have time to go to the festival, as well as the city’s museums and exhibitions. You’ll then return to Moscow at the beginning of next week!
John: – At the beginning of next week I already start work back in Canada, Lyova. You’re indeed right that I won’t have enough time to explore St Petersburg’s streets, but it’s still better than nothing.
