Snegurochka

Today we want to offer you 2 New Year’s materials, which are dedicated to the main New Year characters: Ded Moroz and Snegurochka.
The first material for reading (and listening ) (A2-B1) is an adapted retelling of the tale of the Russian writer Ostrovsky «Снегурочка (Snow Maiden)», there are a lot of interesting tasks, especially on the vocabulary. After reading you might like to watch the cartoon «Snegurochka» by Rimsky-Korsakov. Audio is available free of charge, full PDF with text and exercises you can purchase in our store. In the second – listening material «Дед Мороз и Снегурочка» (B1) - you can listen (and read) the history of the appearance of these traditional Russian characters, all materials and tasks can be used for free.
These materials can be used separately, but it is better to use both because they complement each other. For example, for the speech development tasks students can compare Father Frost and Snow Maiden from the fairy tale of Ostrovsky, Christmas Father Frost and characters of modern New Year children’s plays.
And what Ded Moroz and Snegurochka look like today can be seen in our video «New Year is coming soon!» , in which you will see the khorovod around the Christmas tree, learn about old and new Christmas toys and see how they are made today in a small factory in the Moscow region.
